Mammoth Screen wins Top 100 ranking

Company News December 5, 2011

Mammoth Screen, the independent television production company founded in 2007 by Michele Buck and Damien Timmer, has been officially ranked as 67th in the UK’s top I00 fastest growing privately owned companies. Mammoth is the only production company to make it onto this prestigious list.

The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 is compiled annually by Fast Track; the Oxford based research company, and is sponsored by Virgin, Barclays, BDO and Microsoft. It is published by the Sunday Times. The league table features a host of well known brands including Cath Kidston, Ella’s Kitchen, Jack Wills, Joules and Patisserie Valerie.

Companies are measured by compound annual sales growth over the latest three financial years. Annualised sales had to exceed £250,000 in the base year and in excess of £5M in the latest year. Companies had to have 10 or more employees, be making an operating profit in their latest available accounts, and be forecasting further sales growth.

In a joint statement Michele and Damien, both MDs of Mammoth said:

‘We are absolutely thrilled to be included in this impressive list. It means a great deal to us to have Mammoth’s success recognised in this way. We started only four years ago in a difficult financial climate and through sheer hard work and dedication we have built the company up to be a major player in the independent production sector. We have a very talented team and everyone here has the shared ambition for Mammoth to carry on growing and making more wonderful shows.’

Mammoth have a number of major dramas currently in production: Parade’s End, a period five part serial for BBC2 adapted by Sir Tom Stoppard from the novels by Ford Madox Ford with an all star cast which includes Benedict Cumberbatch and Rebecca Hall. Endeavour, the eagerly anticipated prequel to Inspector Morse which will air on ITV in the New Year, and a second series of the critically acclaimed Monroe, the hospital drama starring Jimmy Nesbitt as quirky brain surgeon Monroe also for ITV. And Primetime, two single dramas produced under a joint initiative by BBC Northern Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen for new resident writers. And a major new commission for SKY will be announced shortly.
